Mitchem's Shoe Repair Sweatshirt - Fundraiser
If you'd like to show some love and support for these beloved members of our community, you can purchase this design all proceeds going to the Park family. We want to be clear that these funds will not change the outcome of their immigration, but will be used to support them as they reestablish their lives after a very sudden loss of their business and relocation.
*Orders will be shipped in the new year.
Thank you for all of the attention & love for the Park family and their business, Mitchem's Shoe Repair & Alterations.
We have some updates, a message from the family & a way to support them during this moment of transition.
After recent immigration policy changes, the Parks' immigration case was reopened and they were given the option of voluntary departure to South Korea. Their immigration case was incredibly unfair- particularly given that they made every effort to adjust their status legally. This has been a devastating outcome for a family who raised their children and ran a successful and long-standing business in the Richmond community. Their children remain in the states.
The Parks were beloved in Richmond and leaned on local friends for support. Unfortunately, many letters (including outreach to legislators) did not change the outcome of the deportation. This is a heart wrenching situation. We all send our deeply felt gratitude to the folks who stepped forward to assist.
We'll also be opening up a "notes" section on our ordering page, where we encourage you to leave a letter, note or some words of support when you place your order. We'll make sure the Parks receive these.
Lastly, the Parks wanted to convey- "Thank you so much to everyone who has shown my parents support during this incredibly difficult time. My parents wanted to share that there were many people they were unable to thank or say goodbye to before they had to leave. We realize that many may not know what happened, and we wish we had been able to let them know sooner. We are so thankful for the kindness, support and overall understanding our community has shown us. Despite the circumstances, my parents remain very grateful for their time in the US, especially for the kind people they were able to meet through Mitchem's Shoe Repair. Thank you."
