Reduce, Reuse, Risograph!
Reduce, Reuse, Risograph!
Thursday, June 12
6-9PM
Instructor: Cassie Grace
at Studio Two Three - 109 West 15th Street
Risograph printing has risen in popularity due to its cost effective, vibrant and sustainable printing technology. But what are other ways we can mitigate waste and find practicality with consumable parts of the Risograph? In the first part of this workshop, we will discuss what makes Riso printing unique, and demonstrate a 2-color print. The second half will focus on re-using elements of the Risograph. We’ll look at masters, stencils, misprints and empty ink tubes as more than just throwaways. We will collage, ideate and share! The final part of the Risograph workshop will be a physical craft. Using empty ink tubes and creating lamps of our own. Participants can expect to leave with 1 Risograph print, and 1 working repurposed ink tube lamp.
Cassie Grace is an educator and production manager for the Creative Print Bureau, housed within VCUarts. They are very passionate about skill sharing, and enjoy “hacking” technologies to create something new or unexpected. They have been studying Risography and other forms of digital printing the last three years. Cassie hopes to provide and participate in educational programming that demystifies the complexities of print.
