Instructors: Noëlle Cunningham and Isa Diaz-Barriga
In this workshop you will have a hands-on introduction to western papermaking with a focus on building a DIY sustainable art practice. Using materials you can replicate at home you will repurpose everyday paper waste into fresh, usable sheets and various forms of paper art. You will learn the history of handmade paper, required equipment, technique, and more. We will cover the history of handmade paper, fibers and equipment, and traditional sheet-forming, and cover creative elements such as sculptural techniques, embossing, and inclusions such as botanical elements. You will leave the with sheets of your own handmade paper and the ability to create paper at home. All materials will be provided. Papermaking is a wet process! Dress for mess and warm weather, bring waterproof boots if possible.
