Instructor: Carrie Garrison
This beginner-friendly Illustrator class will teach you the fundamentals of vector graphics, covering the oh-so-scary interface and workspace, essential tools, and techniques for creating illustrations, logos, and other designs. The second half of the class will be dedicated to attendees playing around with the software for themselves, and asking questions as they go. For this course we recommend bringing a personal laptop for the exploration portion, and paper and pencil for note-taking.
Carrie Garrison (she/her) is a multimedia artist hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee. Carrie has been creating since she was old enough to hold a crayon- you name a medium, she's probably tried it. She received her BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Tennessee in 2020, and a Master's in Teacher Education in 2023, after teaching public middle school art for 2 years. She has taught all ages, and loves to share her passion for creating. Carrie runs a small business called Foolish Designs, which she started from her childhood bedroom in the pandemic; she now sells primarily greeting cards and riso-printed goods. Her non-monetized hobby as of late has been quilting.
