In this workshop you will learn the process of creating a 3-color woodblock print from a singular block, using reductive layering to generate an image. Besides the basic principles of woodblock printing you will be shown registration and offset techniques unique to the process. Each student will leave the class with a print that has 2-3 colors.
Ricardo Ruiz is an artist and publisher based in Richmond, Virginia. His studio practice is rooted in drawing and explores modes of painting and printmaking. He uses different methods and genres of storytelling to explore themes of the human condition from the perspective of an artist who's invested in the history of the Americas.
