History Is Illuminating
We partnered with History Is Illuminating, a rogue group of Richmond Historians & Artisans, on a series of re-contextualized signs that share the history of Black history in Richmond. We designed & printed a zine to share this project with the community.
Community Print Days
At our Community Print Days, we pop up at various locations throughout the city and offer free printed t-shirts, prints and banners to support the movement to Defend Black Lives. We share the next print days on our Instagram - and the designs change based upon our partner organizations and movements. The prints are always free; bring a light-colored shirt, fabric or paper and some to share with a BIPOC.
Signs, Prints & Posters to Support the Movement for Black Lives
We have been printing and distributing signs, posters and prints in support of the Movement for Black Lives in Richmond. We now have a newspaper box out front of the studio that is full of signs, posters and commemorative prints showcasing this powerful moment in our city and nation.
Richmond Public Schools Advocacy
We are proud to partner with Richmond Public Schools (RPS) to advocate on behalf of RPS and Richmond students. We hosted RPS’ first Advocacy Summit, in which community members screen printed t-shirts and posters with new RPS advocacy graphics and distributed them to their schools and communities. We also worked with teachers and advocates to prepare signs and shirts ahead of the “Fund Our Future” rally, calling on the General Assembly to set aside more funding in the budget for schools. We are in continuing dialogue to support RPS’ students summer learning through public art tours.
Richmond Independent Zine Library at Studio Two Three
Studio Two Three is now home to the Richmond Independent Zine Library (RIZL)! Celina Williams and Dustin Fenton started RIZL in 2016, to share their personal zine collections, collect and share zines specifically for the library, and develop a space for a growing zine community in Richmond, Virginia.
Women’s March Poster Printing
In January of 2017, in a climate of uncertainty and fear, we had dozens of requests for workshops to make t-shirts, posters, banners and other ephemera for the Women’s March in Washington DC. In the span of one week, over 500 people come to Studio Two Three to make artwork expressing their beliefs and advocating for policies they cared about.
