Instructor: Sophie Sallade
This class is perfect for beginners looking to explore the world of linocut printmaking! We’ll spend the session drawing and transferring an image to our linoleum block then print it together— everything in one class. Feel free to bring in any drawings or images that call to you, or if you have some experience in the medium, any projects you’re working on in your own time and I can offer some guidance. By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with your own handmade blocks, prints, and a better understanding of relief printmaking. (was thinking the in-process carving photo for this one)
Sophie Sallade is a printmaker holding a BFA in Painting + Printmaking, along with a minor in Craft + Materials Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sophie specializes in carving linocut prints, primarily focused on architecture, parks, and natural landscapes from Richmond, VA, and beyond. Through her work, she captures the beauty and intricacy of urban and natural environments, blending her passion for both carving and the natural world.
