Aquatint! The magical process of etching soft subtle halftones into the hard, binary objectivity of a copper plate. Through the alchemy of mists and acids, microscopic clouds of dust become a million miniature flat-topped mesas, surrounded by valleys of ink. Come empty-handed, leave with carefully etched plates, and delicately modulated tones of ink on paper.
Kristen Andes is an interdisciplinary artist living in Richmond, VA. She primarily works in expanded print with themes of fem identity, queer aging/histories, and cultivated community. Find her work at kristenandes.cargo.site/.
